As part of the 20% cost/quality feasibility study we are keen to recognise the good work that many laboratories have already undertaken and facilitate shared learning around examples of good practice, both within Trusts and in the community.  To facilitate this we are inviting abstracts on the themes of ‘Improving Quality and/or Reducing Costs in Pathology Services’.  We are keen to interpret these themes in the broadest sense, so please consider any/all of the following for submission:

• Point of Care Testing
• Anticoagulation
• Service improvement
• Lean
•  Primary Care
• Quality beyond Pathology
•  Phlebotomy
•  IT
• Transport
• Etc.

We are happy for people to submit abstracts for items that have previously been presented elsewhere and welcome submissions from students.  Abstracts do not have to be referenced.  Please notify us of any regional or national forums where items have been presented.

The Network will be holding a one-day conference on Wednesday 7^th October 2009 with the opportunity for presentations and/or poster displays.  Further details to follow – please hold the date in your diaries.
