Save the date - registration details to follow.
The NHS in partnership with NHS Improvement and NHS Employers will be holding an event in London on 21 & 22 March 2011. The event will concentrate on policy and service issues, exploring how Healthcare Scientists as leaders can make a difference in putting together the new system architecture and benefits for patients as set out in the 'White Paper Equity and Excellence: Liberating the NHS' and the accompanying consultation documents. Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend workshop sessions outlining progress with implementation across a wide range of initiatives including Modernising Scientific Careers, audiology and physiology measurement winning principles and pathways, and pathology.
The Rt Hon Andrew Lansley CBE MP, Secretary of State for Health, will be the keynote speaker. A full programme, a list of high profile speakers and details of how to register online will be forwarded shortly. There is no charge for the two-day event, however delegates will need to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
On the first evening, there will be an NHS Healthcare Science awards dinner. The awards will be for healthcare scientists in the following
categories:
- Lifetime Achievement Award
- Healthcare Scientist of the Year

We will be able to share with you the full criteria and process for these awards early next week, so that this can be set in train very shortly.
During the awards evening on the 21st , there will also be a recognition of of those scientists who have made an outstanding contribution to healthcare science, throughout a career, through a 'Roll of Honour', which is being facilitated through the overarching Professional Bodies.
